2.2 BB8 A8 Manual Motegi *NOW SOLD*
Hey everyone. After 12 years of ownership the day has come where it's time to sell my 5th gen Prelude. I got a new job in September and don't want to run it into the ground doing a daily commute. It will go on Autotrader early in the new year but I wanted to offer it on the forum first. Some of you have seen the car either at Japfest at Silverstone or Simply Jap at Beaulieu this year.
Specs: It's a year 2000 2.2 Vtec BB8 H22a8 197bhp (When it was new!) manual, full Motegi. 108,000 miles, full Honda service history from new. Black leather interior, heated seats, air con, cruise control, sunroof, four wheel steer, 17" alloys, spoiler and Motegi trim. This was the highest UK spec for this car as far as I know. Everything works.
I spent nearly £1000 in May on a service, cam belt and balancer belt change. The MOT runs until the start of Feb. If anyone is seriously interested in the car at a push I would get a new MOT.
The car is as far as possible all genuine stock Honda parts, with exception of the rear brake callipers which are OEM spec non-Honda, and the power steering cooler which is Mishimoto. I have carried out no mods apart from adding an iPod dock. Last year I had the headlights fully refurbed.
It's in superb mechanical condition, starts every time, runs beautifully. The engine is wonderful.
Bodywork wise, I don't have a driveway or garage so it has been parked in the street. There are some dings and scrapes. The paintwork itself has not dulled or faded and polishes up nicely. The wheels could do with a refurb which I always promised myself I would do but never got round to. There are some stone chips. There is some surface corrosion around the edge of the engine bay and a patch of rust in front of the drivers side rear wheel arch that will need some attention. This has not progressed into the arch itself. The garage who usually MOT the car have stated a couple of times that when the car is up on the ramp the underside of the car, seals etc are in exceptionally good condition.
I am looking at around £3250 for the car.

Re: 2.2 BB8 A8 Manual Motegi For Sale
Probably tough to find a better oem 5th gen than this, these days.
Sorry to hear you'll be leaving us eddie, but understand the reasons.
Hopefully the new owner will join the forum so we keep track of the car

Thanks Wurly
I will be sad to see it go that’s for sure. I’m buying a CR-Z so I will have get used to going a little bit slower but it should still be a lot of fun I hope.
Maybe I’ll even turn up to the odd show if people don’t mind a non-Prelude interloper on the stand.

Re: 2.2 BB8 A8 Manual Motegi For Sale
We welcome all cool Honda's on our show stands - Farlow had his CR-Z on our stand a couple of times.
The CR-Z is a great investment tbf, it's gained a proper cult following.

Yeah, I've spoken to a few owners and they all love them. Not a drag car by any means, but quick through the corners, nimble and chuckable. And mine has the S+ button which dumps a big chunk of the battery all in one go a bit like the push to pass in F1 a couple of years back.
And they hold their value nicely judging by what I had to pay for mine!

Re: 2.2 BB8 A8 Manual Motegi For Sale
NOW SOLD! I was going to mention that it was to a forum member and keep it a mystery who but I think that has been blown already!
Sorry that I'll no longer be a Prelude owner after having being one for 20 of the 28 years since I passed my test. I'll still look in on the forum and admire your lovely cars of course and I'm almost a cert to do Japfest Silverstone this year in the CR-Z if you are doing a club stand.
When Honda bring out a 6th gen you can bet I'll be after one.
Cheers Everyone.
