Definitely for sale - 1999 BB8 Prelude 2.2VTi H22A5

Hey all.
just a thought at the minute. I sold my Lexus to buy the Prelude as a fun car, while retaining the Civic as a daily. My wife needs the Civic more now, and as I am spending more and more time with my daughter at the weekends; I kinda miss my Lexus. I have more fun doing daddy stuff now, so I want a fun Japanese car that I can just keep nice with a few mods. I will buy another sports car later in life.

Another thing, it is VERY awkward with the baby seat.

Can you give me an idea of price please for my car.

1999 UK 2.2 VTi with 4WS.

12x000 miles.
Black
17 inch Honda Alloys (not curbed but quite untidy - tyres ok ish)
USDM yellow fog lights.
HKS Silent Power back box fitted to stock exhaust system.
H22A5 - no mods. Not really driven hard but occassional VTEC use.
Good amount of service history. I serviced with good oil and HAMP filter a few months back.
PiperCross panel filter. I have the servicing kit as well.

I have fixed the 4ws and the rusty arches have been cut out and replaced with new metal one month ago.

The car needs a detail but is in great condition.

I have a set of 17cm VIBE components that were a b!tch to fit with MDF spacers etc so I will leave them in there. There is also a 4ch amp under the drivers seat that I will leave in, and a 10 inch subwoofer in the boot. Rear speakers deleted.

I have an aftermarket pager alarm installed with remote start. I have installed the remote start and it works, but it is disabled (you need to put a spare chip from an old key).

All electrics work.

Bad bits.

1. Needs a good detailing session.
2. Wheels need a tidy up.
3. Boot needs a pair of struts (from an EG civic) but I will probably fix this before I sell.

I'm looking to sell around September or October so more than likely the car will be in better condition before it's sold (boot etc). I'm taxing it this month and MOT is not due until around March, so it can be driven away.

Cheers.

J

From someone in the motor trade, we need to push Prelude prices up. A clean rust free red top, yep they've sold for £1500 before, if it was my car....i wouldn't take less than £2500 for it.

It's an A5 but still, rust free ;)

If you're after getting back some money I imagine you'd be better off putting it back to stock and selling off your additional bits.

The work I have done does not really yield enough money to warrant 'taking back to stock'; if you know what I mean.

I would rather sell it as it is. The only thing I want to keep is my beloved Pioneer bluetooth / iPod headunit with car phone etc. I would leave it in but will negotiate on price.

Also, it is a H22A5 with refurbished valve cover and new gasket kit.

Ah okay, I just thought that considering your fogs and exhaust are relatively new, the money you would get for them individually would outweigh the value they've added to the car.

Still, it's a shame you're selling :(

Reality check!!

The rust will come back on the arches a lot quicker than on an original rust free car.
The doors and battery terminals have been chopped.
Tatty wheels.
High mileage.
No head unit.

£1200 - £1500 Max! :|

I know man. I was actually going to turbo it (my third Na to turbo project) but I have other priorities now.

It is a great car that will keep in going if looked after well. It was owned by someone similar to me who also had a young family and used his van or estate more. Prior to that, I think it was a business man as it had the hard wired Nokia car phone and the servicing was done from all over.

@Pushki
1. Possibly, but it's also been undersealed so it's better than no protection at all. You are right, time cannot be put on it.
2. Battery terminals have been replaced with better items for ease of installing extra accessories in a neat manner.
3. I did mention the wheels are not that great, but they are straight. I do have plans to refurb them - it's a matter of when - the weather is poor.
4. The car is 13 years old - average mileage is around 12k per year.
5. I 'can' leave the HU in there, or put another one in, but I AM leaving the components in as well as the amp, so the 10mm I have taken of the 'inside' of the door is irrelevant.

PS I happen to agree with your pricing. :P

My key agenda here is to buy a decent car for daily and weekend family use.

I forgot to mention I have one red key, one black key and one grey key. I think half decent IS200s (I prefer before 2002 for road tax reasons but with ISOFIX) are going for around £1500 so I need as much money as possible.

I hope this clears a few queries up.
Cheers.

Hey guys.
OK, the car is definitely for sale now. I will be going to the DVLA in the next week or so (waiting for some expenses to be paid to me) to retain my private plate, and it will be replaced with an S reg (not sure of the number yet).

I washed it today so here are the latest pics.

I have just bought Road tax for 6 months, and the MOT is due in Feb. The only thing I really want to keep is my Head Unit as it was a gift, and very dear to me. If I really have to let it go, then I want £1250 ovno. This HU has built in Bluetooth Audio, Car phone, aux 1 and 2 and 6 pre outs. If you are happy to bring your own HU for me to fit, prior to the sale, then you can have the car for £1150 ovno. The amp and components etc are all going with the car.

My number is 07766220043.

Cheers.

I think it's a good price at £1150. :)

Good luck with the sale.
