We're basically talking about the same thing here, Indigolemon. MTF is basically 10W30 oil and you could put it in your engine if you wanted. 10W40 full synth is slightly thicker stuff, but flows better being synthetic.

Sorry for nicking your post, but do u drain the gear box oil from the nut with a square in the middle for a 1/4 ratchet thanks

Yes mate, that's the drain plug. Undo the filler bolt on the top first though so the oil can flow out freely.

I should probably add that my above post relates to a manual! I don't know if it differs for an auto box :?

I just need to drain it as pulling drive shaft out to do cv boot so will put same oil back as it seems very clean already

Lol won't do so is there a hole that I can put it back in to the gear box by or is it just back through the gear box dip stick thanks sorry again for nicking your post

Dip stick hole is the easiest way man. The actual filler hole requires a funnel and some pipe.
