I fitted this BGA kit before the lude was sold and I noticed the cam cover gasket was a deeper profile than oem (which made it vitually square in profile) and would be easy to twist so it did not sit flat and would probably leak.
I was very careful to check the gasket was laid straight in the cam cover groove and double checked after the cover was on, only then torqued it down. It didn't leak before I sold the car.
I didn't use any sealer as I've seen it drop inside the oil ways before and had to fish strings of it out next time the cover was off. Honda only says to spot the corners with none silicon type.
However, I do agree the OEM cam cover gasket is best, but the BGA kit replaced all the 8 washers and plug seals which was necessary at the time, and cheaper than Honda.
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.
