Bradford to Southampton can NOT be 145miles?
My parents in Bristol are already 230 miles away :)

FYI, it's the tappet/ valve adjustment. The tappets are fixed, as such, the tappets are adjusted so that they are a fixed distance from the valves as engine wear takes place.. But I'm still partly convinced or perplexed, as I thought they were hydraulic on the B20A7.

I don't know anything about the B20 but even hydraulic tappets wear and need shims

if its hydraulic then they will be tappets

You mean shims for hydraulics, agreed, and mine have never been touched, unless my local garage have done them as a matter of course. My FJ12 is shim and bucket, my old Hondas tappet and locknut. (Bloody fiddly!!)

..and a bit of finesse with a pair of feeler gauges, always takes me 2 or 3 attempts, good job they only need doing once every 6 to 8 years, the old Hondas don't do mch mileage now I have the fj12
