OK, done a bit more testing. It seems to have this light on if the ground wire is/isn't connected to anything...

There is a pretty substantial 12v wire to it which is being spliced of a pretty small dia dash wire at the moment. Going to try it through the cig lighter 12v tomorrow and see if that brings it to life as it could be a low power complaint. Sadly, I cannot find a trouble shooting guide or manual anywhere :(
