Alternator belt replacement

Post by BMCC » Wed Nov 07, 2012 9:46 pm

The belt for this is squeaking so I'll be replacing it soon. How should I test for the correct tension when I replace the belt?

Cheers,

BMCC

pretty sure its in the manual somewhere - i think the belt when correctly tensioned should only deflect about 1/4" when you press down on it.

I usually try twisting the longest stretch between pulleys, around a quarter turn is the guide I follow.
