Looking for Exhaust replacement gen5

Post by snike77 » Thu Jan 10, 2013 2:54 pm

Hi

Does anyone know if you can get an aftermarket exhaust system or back box purpose made for the prelude gen5,

or would i have to get a generic type exhaust and have it fabricated to fit?

Thanks

What year is your car and is it an auto or a manual?

You can use any exhaust listed for the 97-98 H22 or US "Base". Do not use any exhaust listed for US "Type-SH" cars.

The 2.0L and 97-98 5th gens use the same exhaust:

Alternatively you can get a custom one made. I looked into this a year or so ago and was quoted in the region of £450 for a 2.5" CAT-back.

See if you have a Powerflow out let near you. They're cheap custom jobbies but very loud.

Power flow arent always loud. The rep near me will do your exhaust to sound and look like standard, just stainless instead :)

The main problem with aftermarket stuff is they invariably use a tiny little rear silencer.

The 5G's looks oval, but it is a bloody great square box at the top, so it's quiet and fairly gas-flowy.

This is true of many Hondas, and so anything aftermarket tends to be very asthmatic & farty.

Mugen gets round that with a weird double-loop pipe, but theirs are a tad more expensive even than OEM.
