you have to cut away some plastic, no biggie plastic is covered by the gaiter

had it on my last lude, no pics but its simple to install
does have shorter throw, a true short shift would have better feel I presume... never had one

the adapters i found took away about 30 to 35% of the throw were as the true shifters are more 50%.
in the 4th gen the adapters were a little bulky and you had to adapt the gaitor to fit.
i had a 3 hole one and that was a pain as hole 1 would put the throw so far foward your knuckles went through the sterio and the 3rd hole put the throw so far back. so only the centre hole was any good.
and the heavier the knob you put on the better it feels
a light gear knob with short throw is nasty
