Bah.

So I bought an oem replacement backbox. After several hours dremeling underneath the car to cut off the seized old nuts I emerged with this - not an original 5th gen box at all. 4th gen?

Image

Furthermore the mid-pipe flange doesn't fit flat to the flange on the new box - the wings where the bolt holes are located are angled towards the rear by a degree or two. I now have no idea whether this was bodged to fit the previous box or if the midpipe isn't oem either. Tried fitting the new box with a new gasket ring but getting tonnes of blowing - not even close to a seal.

Options -

1. Try and hammer the flange on the new box for a better fit.
2. Go buy some gun gum and try and bodge it.
3. Take it to a garage.
4. ???

Any thoughts?

Sadly I'm not likely to be north again for a long time. Are the flanges on the 4th gen pipes very slightly angled, or has mine been bent?

Balls. I've got some mutant exhaust system then :p

Unless the 5th should also be angled and I've bought some crap pattern part that doesn't fit properly.

Anyone know if the 5th gen flanges between the mid and rear pipes are supposed to be flat or very slightly angled?
