Balance shaft belt?

Ok ok so which way am i turning this bolt to undo it? Im gonna be brave and attack it lol then is it easyish to remove the lower cover? Looks purrrty tight lol

The bolt turns the normal way, the problem you'll have is stopping the engine spinning whilst you try to undo it, you will either need a crank pulley lock tool or an air gun.

I find taking the starter motor out and jamming something in there to the flywheel does the job, or the bottom flywheel cover located at the bottom of the box, beside the sump,

Turn the crank pully bolt anticlockwise.

We removed the balancer belt from the ATR without having to take off the crank pulley.
The rest of the gubbins has been left in for now to make sure the seals still function, so the extra mass is still in there. At least it's not rotating.

Apparently, one of Vtec Direct's customers ran a test: balancer shaft removal = approx. 3hp. I can't say we've noticed.

Ive not noticed any power increase. But tbh, i don't think you would notice 3hp. The only thing i did notice is that i think my motor runs smoother. But could be the placebo affect :? :lol:
