We shall see. The pinking isn't too bad and doesn't happen all the time, so I'm not too urgent.
I've emailed a local mobile mechanic to come out to do the valve clearances and the checking +/- adjustment of the timing afterwards. I've done valve clearance once a few years ago and it's a right pain in the bum without the right tool and at that time I decided I didn't fancy doing it ever again. They're due for adjustment in about 7,000 miles time so might as will get them done now along with the timing. I'm getting a mobile mechanic to come around to do it, that way the car engine will be stone cold when doing the clearances and I can satisfy my OCD tendencies by removing and refitting the valve cover myself.
