Can somebody that knows for sure make something to do with this for the wiki? Cos I get might confused and aren't the Type S and H22A8 exhausts different as well?

the type s downpipe is longer to reach under the atts shiz (longer in length wise, not vertically)

The jap and UK have a very slightly different bolt pattern where the downpipe meets the cat, if someone has swapped the cat (or decat?) & exhaust for a UK version then the exhaust will kick out slightly and the exhaust will twist from the car, in the same direction that your back box looks skewed.

i dont think the stud patern mismatch is enough to put the angle of the system off, i had this problem when fitting a uk downpipe to my jdm cat and had to use longer, thinner bolts to get them to match up but the rest of the exhaust hung as it should

How are they different Merlin? From what I've gathered the A8 cat is longer than the A5? I don't know about the rest.

The a8 has a longer downpipe and CAT compared to the a5, and a much shorter midsection to compensate. If your going aftermarket manifold and exhaust for an a8 you need to buy a whole exhaust from the engine back made for the a5. You cant mix and match a5 & a8 exhaust parts without major modification.
