Well its not the heat shield, I took that off. It was bolted on really tight. I revved the engine from the engine bay and I couldn't get it to make the noise.
The dash seems solid, ratty, where are the bolts you tightened?
I will get the zorst fixed then next job is timing belt and tensioner so hopefully that will all sort it.
Thanks for the advice guys, always very much appreciated.

Yes and in neutral, so I know its not transmission related, I am thinking as it only triggers when revving down that it must be exhaust or a mount issue...
i'm not ruling out timing/balance though... I am worrying about that because although I only have 60K on the clock and it does have a Honda service history I am only assuming it had a belt change at 7 years... either way I'm due another one about now

ha, mine is 20 years old and around 85000 miles and still on its original belt. unfortunatly engine resonance is unavoidable and could be anything that is vibrating. though i still believe it is exhaust related but i dont have a christal ball so cant be sure. most folk (usually blokes) imagine all kinds of horrors when they here something they hadnt heard before, mine sometimes vibrates at the door windows, i just press open then closed and it goes away for a while.
oh yeh, as regards the timing belt, im in no way sugesting NOT to change it, better safe than sorry. personaly i always think - how do you know the new belt hasnt got damaged during fitting, lude belts are a real tight fit, but thats just my opinion and my car is old, but still very low milage for its age, its also rusty now and i cant justify spending a shed load of money on the engine if the body is gona fall apart
they are afterall just cars, yes i would be gutted but as said - just cars
