Yep, clutch is hydraulic, with a pipe from the Master Cylinder (connected to the pedal) running to the slave cylinder on the gearbox. Any air in that pipe stops the slave cylinder moving as much as it should, which causes problems like the ones you are describing.

If there is somehow air in the line it compresses and causes the clutch to not disengage properly. You purge the air/fluid by slowly squeezing it out of the bleed nipple on the slave cylinder in the same way you bleed brakes. There is a relatively small amount of fluid in the clutch reservoir and line, it takes less than 5 mins to bleed the system and replace with completely fresh fluid.

We've tried that on slave cylinder. Didn't help.

Ah right, if it's been bled then you may be looking at a leak or lack of movement problem then.

Out of interest - What oil went into the box when it was refitted?

I have no idea.
I asked if I have to bring the transmission oil before installing new clutch. They said they've got it.

Hmm, I'd be keen to know what they used. Honda gearboxes take very thin oil. I'd pretty much only use either:

Honda MTF
Torco MTF or
Amsoil MTF

Anything else, I'm not sure I'd be happy with.

I'll try to find out what they used.

So, what is the first thing to do then? I'm close to breaking my gearbox when I try to put into first gear. :x

You can see the slave cylinder on the gearbox when you open the bonnet, see how much movement it gets when someone pushes the clutch pedal? If you video it, I could compare that with mine and see if it looks about the same?

Nice one man, I'll check mine after work - unless someone else can have a look before then?
