Sorry to hear about your engine troubles

the second video was mine that you posted from utube. This is the noise i had when my tensioner went

It does sound very simillar, i do reckon it is the tensioner.

My advice is to remove the rocker cover and check the belts tension. You will know for sure then.

Dont start it up anymore untill you get it fixed as more damage can be done. Get Rich to perform the manual tensioner conversion for you which will mean you traillering the car to him

Good luck dude

Talking of tensioner failures

Did the accord type R ever suffer from this problem?

i found your videos last night while trawling the web

it does sound very similar

the way its looking its gonna be the best part of £500 to rectify but at least then it will all be done in there regarding the timing belts, seals etc

Yer i agree. It wont be an engine failure. YOU WOULD KNOW if it was.
Can you know get a mobile Mechanic out and let him at it for 1hours to see potential problems. Go from there.

£500-800 if more like it for timing, tensioners, pumps etc which should be done at the same time and then you will be fine.
But not nice to have this before christmas.

its not then end of the engine mate - like ratty says - quite a few of us have had tensioner failure and lived to tell the tale.
cant believe your talking about trailering it down to paw to get it fixed - thats just nuts imo
surely you can get it done locally - i did my auto to manual conversion, new belts and seals and waterpump with help from a few forum members - and im not mechanically minded -cost me about £200 in parts. mind u it did take 3 days to do cause we did the work outside in the street with bad light and lots of rain

id also put money on it that it has skipped a tooth

performancetek are a honda specialist in scotland. trailering it all the way to paw is a bit nuts.
