H22A2 Potential??

Just to confirm, as knightmare has added the manifold and downpipes are different, the JDM's were slightly larger diameter. But most have replaced them, plus you'll need something custom to go into your 3rd gen.
While the H22A is a better base to begin with it's only slightly better. My H22A2 before my build was dyno'd (all anomalies to one side) at 207bhp, with basic breathing mods and chipped ECU like Merlin. Wish I'd got it dyno'd on my S300 before the build.
At the end of the day your still shoving an engine which will have 35-50bhp more than the top spec engine of that time, so it's win/win.

I know what you're saying though. But like you say, regarding exhaust stuffs, every part of that will be uprated anyway.
