£500 for the sleeves £1000 for the machine work to fit them.

Then pistons, rods and engine rebuild on top.

You can get the sleeves cheaper ifu go flanged instead.
£90-100 per cylinder to fit too.

£5k can still get you a good setup mate.
And if you know a welder/fabricator then thats a bonus.
With £5k i can easily achieve around 450-600bhp
Guareenteed.

TBH is there such a thing other than a standard engine?

If you're going to slap on a charger and boost an engine that was never intended for it, you may release a few reliability gremlins?

Every build from 230bhp to 500bhp will come with certain hurdles to overcome and it only takes something to not be set up right or fail down the line and there goes your reliability.

Just my thoughts. I would think 5k would get you a fairly decent set of parts on a standard engine, a couple have had success with the treadstone kit you linked to.

To go off an tangent. I know fook all about FI but I do know about increased power and abuse that comes along with it. Take your £5k for engine mods and find another £5k for mods to allow to use all that power. Gearbox, LSD, performance clutch, suspension, engine mounts, traction bars, brakes, tyres and so on. And factor in the inevitable replacement driveshafts ;) Anyone chasing power will need to address some of these points to get reliability and usability.

I am on my 4th set of OEM driveshafts, I mashed the inner CV bearings on the first two sets and obliterated the outer CV joint on the 3rd set

Yeah i was planning brakes and suspension etc first and looking at 5k on jst engine stuff

But all in all seems far too costly for something that may just give up one day and blow lol

The 185 engine i have still has loads of power dont get me wrong, but i guess im after more

Not neccessarily chasing bhp, but id love to slap a dc2 import or a few ep3s

End of the day the lude cost me 1k so would love to show how underestimated they actually are
