wow. :? ok then, remove each plug and see how many cylinders are smoking (soot on plugs, could have white deposits on them). are any darker than others, if stem seal is foobar it will only be on one (the sootiest plug, if any) if the plugs look ok then it would sugest that your not burning as much oil as you think :D

@phil:the vafc is not actually doing anything but looking pretty in the cabin and dropping vtec about 200rpm.

''leak down test with some oil down the bores to see if its the rings'' this sounds interesting.

@littlefeller: the plug on the far left is a little darker and has a slight fur build up on it if that helps?

70k engine shouldnt smoke, but what is your definition of smokey?
the build up could be burned oil deposits, shame its just one as this doesnt rule out valve seal (i was trying to narrow it down). but darker can also be leaning towards rich mixture but only on one plug when all cylinders are fed the same mixture would apear unlikely. how much does a leakdown test cost? a compression test would be real cheap and you ave the plugs out anyway :D
personaly i would just keep using it till it getts worse (if it gets worse) then it will be real easy to find the problem :D

why not, you have a spare. if its the bore on one cylinder you could run it for years (at least you could on a cast iron bore, not so sure on the make up of the renforced honda bores, are they not ceramic of some kind?)
the easyest thing to do is take it back to where the head was done and get them to take a look, if the heads ok it narrows it down considerably

just a quick thought, are there any breathers going into the h22 intake anywhere?

its the stock type S intake with the resonator removed. no other changes to the system.
