I have not long owned this prelude and noticed that it was burning oil like mental when in vtec. Took it to the garage and the guy looked at it turns out it's the piston rings. But also said he has done them before and they have gone again shortly so may as well do a complete engine swap...

I am absolutely gutted :(

It's a w reg lude with the h22a8 manual in it with 130k".

I would love some advice on what to do? Sell up broken, fix, swap engine???

Well that sucks chap. If it was me I would replace the rings, get the pistons and cylinders checked. I think the H series motors use FRM cylinder liners and are prone to wear and oil usage!! It could cost you a small fortune to do the repair tho. I would only do it as I would do it myself as I have the room but it may be just cost effective for you to swap in a low millage motor tbh :?

Around £400-£500 normally.

Just swap the engine.

How much is excessively? Has a leak down check been carried out? Could be coked up rings, @lewd lude lover recently looked into this, mabe worth a hunt about on here before you condem the engine

I mean the guy is pretty sure it's piston rings he was just saying the Labour cost of stripping it down is going to be equal to that of installing a new engine...
