Hey all,
What's the best way to polish up a stainless steel manifold? It is off the car, and is a bit discoloured.
Another job for a machine polisher?

Go to halfords and get the stainless steel buffer pack that fits onto a drill. Strap the drill tona work bench and polish away. I did my valve cover this way.

Buy this:
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165594
Attach to drill and polish away. The trick is to get some heat into the metal so that the compounds do the work for you, so work on small sections at a time. For the tricky bits I used a dremel like device (ALDI's version!) with some polishing wheels and the compounds.

Personally,
0000 wire wool and Autobrite 'MetalWorx' (much better than Autosol) for the preliminary polishing
Dremel (or similar) with the buffing wheels, and the aforementioned MetalWorx
Jobs a goodun.

Heatwrap it and you will never have to polish it again
I put my plm tri-y on the car and its very tarnished now

bought some titanium heat wrap but that means taking the mani off to fit it which i cant be arsed doing:roll: wish id put the heatwrap on in the first place

I guess its going to sit in the back of a drawer for a year or two...

No point having a fancy manifold then hiding it under wrap
Was meant to start this ages ago, and it gets fitted next week
Better get stuck in, thanks for the recommendations folks, may go for the old drill + wheels combo

Autosol and plenty of wrist action. Result I achieved on my Del Sol exhaust, backbox polished, centre section not done:
