Lude Generation

Hi guys , ive got problem with idling since i instaled 10mm spark leads. Exhaust started to make bubly noises, i thought that was because ignition was wrong, but next day ignition was adjusted and everything was fine and car was running better, and rpms were 800 . But than after about hour check engine light went on and car died . When i started it up rpm's were 400-500 and it was overfueling(bubly noise)

Than my ignition was adjusted again , and next time i started my car up , rpm's were down and had same problems.

And now my rpm's are moving on idle. sometimes its 700 but after few miles it can be 400-500 and than back to 700.

And it sounds like its overfueling more when car is cold. When its warmed up its less.

Atm i have bosh spark plugs just temp wich i changed with leads.
Idle control valve has been checked and cleaned.

Any ideas what could it be? On weekend im changing spark plugs, if that wont help than distributor, what else?

It used 15 litres of petrol on 70 miles in city, thats kinda a lot and i even didnt use vtec

Coolant temp sensor for ECU may be the source of the over fueling. Does it pop at all when you take your foot off the gas?

Have you simply tried fitting your old HT leads back? Was there anything wrong with the old ones?

I noticed you called them 10mm leads, so does that meant they're unbranded? (Possibly jobby leads and bigger doesn't always mean better in these instances).

Also what Bosch plugs did you fit?

I seem to remember that the bosch plugs were no good - someone on here tried them and the car didnt run well so they were removed and replaced with ngk.

When the ignition timing was set was the service connector shorted? If not that may have contributed to the issues.

What was the code for the CEL?

as nafe says put the old leads back if no change remove the spark plugsreplace with either new or the original ones put the new leads on see if that works

if your car was running ok before the changes you made then it must be one orr both of the items you fitted have you put the leads on correctly are they seated properly

Also, quite often universal HT leads aren't correctly set to the right length to form a decent connection (the click on to the spark plug). So maybe the leads need pulling through the plugs a bit more.

Bosch Super4's perchance? I lasted a day with them before binning them for some Denso's. Awful things, made the car run like crap.

I fitted standard Bosh plugs for 2.2 . Cause they didnt had others in stock and it was just for one week, this week end i will change them to NGK iridium. If that wont help, than i will change leads back to OEM.

When i did paperclip diagnostic, it didnt show any code on check engine .

whats service connector? and they did just turn distributor to set rpm's

Old ones are fine, i havent tryed to fit old leads. Cause i thought it can be distributor , is it related with dizzy somehow?

It always did pop when i take my foot of the gas. Even with my old leads , but now it pops a bit louder On every gear change aswell

Yes they're all related, but if you're car was fine before you change something and is having issues after you change something it's generally due to the thing you changed

That's unburn fuel due to your plugs not sparking enough (due to plugs, leads, or dizzy) or a timing issue.
