Rolf and the earthworm

It's cold this morning, when I say cold I mean the coldest its been since I took possession of my Lude at the end of may, when I say today I mean yesterday but I know the same will happen today so bear with me if you will.

I own a 5G 2.0 auto, 4 speed with a semi, when started, the revs are what one would expect at around 1500rpm and gradually lowering to around 750 when she's all warm and fuzzy, now no matter what I do I set off by letting the engine do the work, I don't touch the accelerator for the first or second corner out to the main road, then to get around the corner I must depress the loud peddle ever so gently to get around the next one, when I say gentle I mean like placing an ant on it gentle and WALLOP! the revs go up to 5000rpm like its being chased by Rolf. This happens a couple of times when first setting off and is quite unnerving, especially in car parks or in garage forecourts, other lesser motorists in there Vectras and Mondeos sneer in that way that you know there thinking I am a total bell-end showing off but I am just exiting, I mean you'd know by the look of terror on my face I was papping it, heading for the pump at terminal velocity. Even so, I don't like it so much, also whats with the mental acceleration when in semi, if I change gear from 1st to 2nd at 4000rpm its like being punched in the back of the head by an earth worm and the screaming engine noise makes me wonder if I am in the right gear, I was doing 30mph coming onto a long stretch of dualness and thought I might tickle its fancy, flicked the box over into semi and its in 3rd! I downshift and a hell of a noise brakes loose!

Anybody had this, I searched a bit but admittedly not so hard as I have risen just and my eyes are yet to fully focus..........

Sounds like possibly 2 separate problems? Firstly with the gearbox - and IIRC the first thing to do with a 5th gen tiptronic that's misbehaving, is to change the box oil and clean the solenoid valve filters :? Did I remember that correctly???

Secondly, with the engine management. Have you had the cel come on at all?

LO :D

I have a 2.0i Auto 5th Gen and have had no problems so far.
Is the problem your having only in Tip Mode :?: is it fine in Auto Mode :?:

I have only ever used my Tip Mode twice in 6 years and wasn't impressed so since then i just leave it in 4 Gear Drive.

I have changed the oil twice since iv'e had it with the proper Honda stuff to be on the safe side

I'm no expert on Auto Boxes as this is the only Auto i have had , so maybe someone else on here may be able to help you more.
Good luck with sorting it out though matey

Cheers ;)
