I had a bit of a crunch into 4th on the redline a couple weeks back, didnt happen again so thought nothing of it. happened again today a couple of times and then had trouble getting into first whilst stationary.

Is this the beginning of the end of my gear box??

Apparently, changing the gearbox oil to Amsoil synthetic cures this.

Yep, give Amsoil MTF a go. It's remedied two gearboxes with 5th gear crunch for me.and many other members to :)

Opie oils is probably your best bet for getting the stuff.

Changing the oil, well you just take the old stuff out and put the new stuff in. :|

Seriously though, it's in the manual and quite straight forward, you'll need a length of hosepipe and a funnel and 2 litres of the oil.

ok found it in the manual, looks simple enough.

What grade would be best to use?

Red = danger!! Be kind to your engine and try to avoid this. :geek:

I have been experimenting with where to shift as when i first took the lude drag racing i was shifting just before the redline, and it seemed i was dropping out of vtec after each shift, with shifting after the redline it seems to stay in vtec and keep pulling a lot better.
I was under the impression that the rev limiter would stop me from doing any damage to the car? obviously i am aware that putting that much stress on the car is going to increase the wear on the box and engine, but surely it can handle whatever you can rev it to before it hits the limiter?

where should the rev limiter kick in on a stock car?

Just to clarify i dont drive like that all the time!

Been looking for amsoil mtf on ebay and carnt see any but ill get onto opie oils though now..

also on the rev limiter situation, be careful it took me a while to find mine as it's set to 8500rpm! ! (Thats past the red line :? ) I dont rev it that high very often I can ashore you
