Try the valve under the throttle body, can't think what it's called (something like fit valve) it has float like internals that dismantle themselves. Just need screwing back together. But it will adjust tick over aswell I think. I'm sure somebody more experienced will fill in the blanks.

Remove the intake pipe whilst she's hunting (And the car's stopped) and stick you finger/thumb over the lower big hole in the mouth of the throttle body. If it idles fine then it's your FITV (Fast Idle Thermo/Temperature Valve) at fault.

Have. Cleaned the FITV and it's still hunting bit not as bad. How tight am I ment to screw it down?

All the way, then back it off about 1-2 turns, the more it's backed off, the higher your cold idle will be.

So when you blocked the hole completely did it continue to hunt?

It stopped hunting all together and what idling spot on. Have screwed the fitv all the way down and gone back 2 turns but she's still hunting. Did notice that the white plastic in the fitv is damaged tho

That'll be it then.
The valves can leak (I had a dodgy one on my 3rd gen that I ghetto fixed), but if yours valve looks damaged then it most probably isn't sealing.
Ergo... You need a new one
