Car died on the way home today. Long story short, RAC bloke says it could be cambelt and that valves and pistons could be damaged. How much do I need to cry right now?

Aww no! Yeah definitely find out what's definitely gone wrong, but if you cn come back to us with a quoted price before you get it done so we can tell you if it's a fair price or not. Between us we've all had "incidents" so we can let you know if we paid simular or not ;-)

RAC bloke says the belt hadn't broken but slipped and threw the timing out? Reckons it will cost upwards of £700.

Sounds like the Auto tensioner failed

Were you in Vtec at the time?

Could be as simple as a new auto tensioner and cam belt plus labour or it could be much worse
