So my ludes booked in at solid fab to have a 3inch system fitted.
My question is should i have it start cat back or remove the decat pipe altogether and start from where it would have been ?
cheers Jon

What size is the decat?
Do you need to fit a cat at MOT time on your car, or do they accept it's pre (whatever month it was) 95 and put it through de-cat test?

Also, when are you going there?
I had a FGK downpipe repaired by them and I'm not entirely happy with the repair. Not fitted it yet... Do you fancy taking it with you and getting him to put it right while you're there? :D

It won't make that much of a difference, only way you will notice a big difference with the 3" system is if the collector is modified on the downpipe to 3" as well. Based on that if your ever planning on doing the collector mod then yes id have the decat removed to.

Jon,

Your decisions sound along the same as mine a while back now on my project. I have my 3.0" cat back. Then I also had my custom manifold with true 3.0" collector made by Alan at Solid Fabs too. I was left with an area for my cat (which I actually need for my emissions test). I found a close match in terms of length from a Mitsi Evo 4/5/6 and found some cheap decats and an actual Evo cat. See here:

All I have to do is change a couple of the end flanges, although the downpipe already had the correct flange added as I had this idea first.

If you genuinely don't need a cat and more to the point are passing the emissions ok without one, then I'd go straight through with the exhaust piping - cheapest option. But as pointed out, you'll want to match up that collector at some point for it to work best.
