IACV gasket / O ring to coolant ...

Post by Angus » Wed Nov 05, 2014 10:01 am

Noticed a few days ago that I have some lovely crusty pink stuff around the bottom end of my IACV. Evidently, coolant is seeping out there.

No problem, I thought, and called the local Honda stealer for a new gasket, part no. "O-RING B (TEC) - 36453PV3004".

They were happy to sell me a packet of ten of them for £34 on back order, but not one by itself. So I tried ordering from Lings, but got an email also saying that these have to come in on back order and may take some time.

So ... has anyone separated the coolant bit from the bottom of the IACV and can advise whether the gasket/O ring/whatever it is can be temporarily patched up with silicone gasket?

The £34 was for a box of ten - and that's before VAT, I think. They refused to order in a single one because the minimum order is ten ... and they say they've never sold one in their life before.

Wonderful Honda dealer service, eh?

If you look it up on lings they specify the dimensions. Then just get one from somewhere else.

Thanks, bus. That would be handy. PM on the way ...

Vanzep: yeah, I've not had it off yet (oo-er) so can't describe, but looking at the parts diagram it's betwwen the unit and the flat plate that has the coolant pipes on it. Doesn't look like a regualr round rubber O ring from the diagram, vtecmec.

DIYspareparts.com had it listed, so I tried them. This is what the guy said: "We do not have the part in stock, the ETA from Honda is: 23 January 2015". Yikes.

Ive taken the plate off the back and its a shaped gasket that sits in a recess on the body of the part- so your not going to find anything off the shelf that will do and personally i wouldnt use sealant in its place - so it will have to be oem which @Thebusofwoe has offered to get for you.

Ah, thanks for going to the effort!

Depending on supply timescales, I may have to pull it apart and apply some first aid silicone to hold it together.
