Auto Box problem

Post by PreludePete » Sun Nov 09, 2014 4:57 pm

Can anyone help me sort out a problem with my 97 Prelude 2.2 steptronic box? Neutral indicator light (red) doesn't always come on when selecting neutral from drive and it wont go to reverse or park unless the light is on. Box has only done 60k miles and oil changed recently. Driving me nuts! Prelude Pete

first thing i'd check is your interlock switch around the auto shifter.

if that's not working properly it could be your culprit

Hey Cutz, that's quick! Can you tell me how to do that, or is it a specialist job?

Got an autobox specialist to look at problem. He seems to think it may be a loose cable or a faulty A/T gear switch however on initial inspection he was unable to locate the switch. The service manual drawings which showed the switch didn't tie up with what was under the bonnet so he has kept the car for further investigation. He has asked me if I can try to find out where this A/T gear switch may be as he believes it could be hidden any where and he would also like to know the location of the diagnostic service plug.

Help anyone?

Good news, Got it working again normally, loose connection?? but the autoshifter interlock switch is still suspect. Anyone know where I can locate one??

Really appreciate help to date.
