Vapour/light white smoke on start-up

Morning gents,
Yesterday I started the car and realised I'd left the house keys on a table outside. I got out, got the keys and as I was going to get back in I noticed some smoke/vapour from the exhaust.
The choke was on so the engine was revving a bit and it was a fairly cool morning.
The smoke/vapour was a whitey/translucent colour (no blue/black) and although not masses of it, there was enough to get me thinking about asking this question.
I thought I'd wait a bit and see if it disappeared which once the engine was warm (1 block on the temp gauge) the smoke/vapour seemed to stop. When I drove to my appointment there were no problems and all seemed well.
Is this vapour/smoke a normal thing or is a sign of something happening?
Your direction and advice is most welcome, thanks, Simon.

Sorry - just to add that this morning I kept an eye on the rear view mirror as I drove off and there were no huge plumes of smoke following me as I drove down the road where I live.

DONT PANIC

in the words of hitchikers

Standard cold morning H22. get used to it. its a dirty old engine and it kicks out loads of condensation on cold morning.

I asked the exact same question many years ago. :D

not al all. just watch it and laugh. on really cold cold mornings you'll think your headgasket has blown right through to the radiator. Dont worry.

Just condensation.

My Prelude did it, and my Legnum looks like it's leaving a smoke trail for miles with the amount of condensation that generates!

Haha - was going to ask the same question. Been using the lude for the commute this week and notice it does smoke a hell of a lot for the first 15 mins or so (white smoke)
Thanks for the clarification :)
