timing belt info please
timing belt info please
hi guys and girls
i am new to H22's and have just collected a H22A from Bri today and one item i need to change is the timing belt, could someone help clear up which belt kit i would need?
the car was a 1992 JDM import H22A engine (4th gen i believe). i have seen several kits on ebay most of which are in the states and only show the DOHC 2.2 from 1993 onwards? like this one:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140480220927? ... EBIDX%3AIT
not sure on the make i would normally chose gates?
could anyone help and provide me a link or the OEM part numbers for the correct kit for my engine as this is something i do not want to get wrong....
thanks in advance all....

That looks correct matey. Just I would definitely replace the auto tensioner if your not going manual tensioner. Balancer belt, cam belt, water pump. Pulleys and seals are not necessary but advised seeing as your in there anyway.

If your prepared to fit a new auto tensioner it shouldn't give you any trouble. The auto tensioner can fail. I track my lude and have fitted a Vtec direct manual tensioner. You can either fit that type or fit a h23 manual tensioner kit. Bit more of a ball ache. But either does the same job of being able to manually tension the belt rather than relying on a auto tensioner that could potentially fail. A lot of people run the auto tensioner without any problem. Either replace it or convert it is my advise.

Just seen the keizenspeed one here http://www.swapshopracing.com/contents/ ... ioner.html
So with this device only a standard h22 timing belt replacement kit is needed?

Yup. Just the cam belt and balancer belt. Pulleys and seals are advised but not necessary.
