Lude Generation

Hi so bought this lude on wednesday car is good needsa bit of work however the car has no vtec in first gear. The chap i bought it off said he has put a chip on the engine which he showed me that converts kph to mph. I have read online that them chips eliminate first gear vtec. How to i get my vtec back?!!

Chip the ecu or move the covertor from between the vss and ecu to between the ecu and speedo.

A chip is a good shout though

Chipping the ecu is a good shout or the chip i have is a good shout? Right now the chip is just under the distributor so move it from there?

Thanks mate has anyone used this chip or had any experience? As i dont want it to drokk things up if i do buy
