Anyone able to advise on potential turbo

Hi Guys,
Need a bit of advice as my 5th gen is looking ok now and its time to look at the engine little 2ltr, Rob shouts Turbo and I agree it would be cool, however this was what I was advised by a company in Eastkilbride who do a lot of race stuff, and its a bit of a bummer if they are right so can anyone advise? thanks for any input.

"Good Morning Craig,

Given my previous experience with the F20 engine, my advice would be to save yourself a lot of time / hassle / money and look into the option of an H22 swap. The following problems occur with turboing the F20...

Standard rods / pistons in my opinion are not sufficient for boost (est rods £400, pistons £400)
The longevity of the stock liners would be questionable (rough costing for sleeving a 4cylinder engine block £800-£1000)

This obviously does not include the cost of a decent turbo kit which could also run into the thousands, engine management, oil feed / return, a free flowing exhaust system, mapping etc... As you can see it soon adds up.

If your power goal is somewhere in the 200-220hp range, then your best value for money option would be to fit an H22A7 and LSD gearbox (accord type R items) or better still, sell your 2.0 prelude and trade up to an import Prelude Type S, the cost of which would amount to far less than the cost of boosting your existing engine.
:D

just in case no else has said - keep it as it is - it looks great and the 2litre isnt that slow
if your planning going out on track or looking for more power the ATR or Type S would be the most cost effective way of going about it. I know youve been advised this already but any build is going to cost a small fortune :)

It looks like thats the smart move ive even looked at these guys http://www.scotland.superchips.co.uk/se ... riant=1036

Claims to be able to add 10HP for £229 , that on top of K&N filter and improve exhaust , looks like thats it untill I find a new fuel system.

I'm with vanzep. Keep the car and enjoy it for what it is.

I'm also with whoever suggested you trade up to a Type S. It would certainly save you money compared with turboing your current car.

I'm not with the superchips suggestion. It's doubtful if it will manage the claimed 10bhp. You'd get a bigger actual performance boost just by chucking out your rear seats and any sound insulation.

I love the car and as Vanzep say's its not a total slouch but the 131 BHP could be improved a little and its a wee bit here and another there if you know what I mean.
I would like confrmation on the superchips route as £229 is a big chunk toward new coilovers, and thats where I think the most fun might be .

I wouldn't waste your time and money on it matey.

H23 intake manifold and TypeS/H22A8 intake, decent exhaust. Spend the rest on handling/stopping upgrades. Maybe chuck a chip in after. Does @nucleustylzlude do chips for the 2.0L?

What everyone elze is saying pal
Mines the 185 bhp h22 engine and ill probably end up leaving it as it is

For the money youll spend on a turbo kit and engine management alone you could buy a s14 or subaru, pile a grand into either of them and youll see around 300bhp afaik

Up to yourself though, ive always wanted to turbo a lude and someday it might happen

I wish I could help, but unfortunately I don't have a chip for 2.0i engines, its just not the engine choice that tuning companies have focused on. As for Superchips - very pricy, for what I would expect to be a lot less than the usual claimed '10bhp' gain. Just my opinion, nothing an email to them wouldn't hurt to provide proof (dyno sheets) of an F20 engine they've done.
