Can't feel vtec

I'm not too sure about this, as I haven't been in a prelude for years, but I can't seem to feel vtec 'kick' in. Is there any way to diagnose those or any garages in London that people would recommend taking it to?

Or even some local chaps on here which wouldn't mind taking a look with me? =)

This may sound silly, but have you checked that the engine is running at optimal temperature? I've read that vtec won't kick in if it's running cold

Somebody correct me, but if VTEC is not engaging doesn't the car only rev to around 6500?
Or is that cobblers?

If you can rev over ~6.5K VTEC has engaged. If you get to around 6.5K rpm and wont go any higher then VTEC isnt working.

Might be worth pointing out that ideally you don't want to feel a kick.

This ^ If there is an obvious kick you've actually got an issue that needs solved.

Or you've accidentally driven off in an ATR!

My Type S has a very harsh kick but mainly due to the exhaust header.
But no vtec kick is sign of a smooth engine. But the kick will change with mods.
Can you hear the change in engine note.

Lol ok thanks guys it revs all the way to redline so I guess it's working then. I've got aem v2 air intake, stainless manifold. Tanabe straight through exhaust. And I can't really notice a change in engine note like I did on my old prelude but that was a long time ago so maybe I am remembering incorrectly. So if it revs past 5500 rpm easily then vtec is working?
