hello guys,

I hope someone can help me out here.

after 18 months of waiting the day arrives to take the lude out the garage to drive to PAW tomorrow AM for MOT and finally to drive the F**KING thing.

i took a battery i thought was charged with me.

plugged it in. turned the key and it had enough juice to 'nearly' turn the car over. damp squib.

jobby i think.

drive home to get a known good battery.

plug it in and nothing. no interior lights, no ignition lights, no flashing imobiliser light........nothing.

not even the expected little spark when you connect the positive (after connecting the neg)

nothing.

help please? otherwise i have a dead car and i have to cancel an appt at PAW with no notice

i tried three batteries. including the one out of the car used to take me to and then from the garage :?

i now have one on charge.

there is power in the battery but the car does not want it. like i say, the terminal does not spark on a known good battery.

i checked the main ign switch fuse (50a) in the engine bay and thats fine. as are all the others. i cant easily get to the one by the go pedal and see as i didnt have a torch and its a tight fit.

:(

im hoping that the car has some kind of fail safe built in or something. if you try and start it with a duff battery then you have to fully discharge the caps or.... :?: i dont know. im going back later before dark for another try.

*disheartened

Sounds like you need either a new battery or a propper charger that desulphers the battery before charging.

Check your grounds are secure and you have enough of them. I had this on my atr when I forgot to bolt in one of the ground wires when I did an engine swap.

I would say battery if no electric

I had trouble recently, had to buy a new battery from lings

the batteries you tried could be dying and not have the cranking power

like said check the power and earth cables to the battery, mine looked kinda crusty would like to change the cables not sure which to use tho

also connections on the battery tight?
