Vtec solenoid, still got my cel 21

Hi

I posted a while ago regarding an intermittent cel 21. I have tried everything I can think of and what people have suggested and still I can't find the problem.

I've tried replacing the solenoid, running a new wire from the ecu to the solenoid, although the wire seemed fine as there was continuity from ecu to solenoid wire (harness side). I've changed the oil, cleaned the screens but still getting the same cel.

Could there be something else which could be throwing a cel 21? Cause I'm stumped :?:

Have you followed through the fault finding tree in the service manual for that code?

Yes I ran a new wire from pin a4 to the solenoid so I'm guessing that really only leaves the ecu?

Has the problem ever gone away, or always stayed there?

Whereabouts are you?

if the timing is out, could that cause the error?

The problem just started one day. i have searched and searched and out of ideas of what could be causing it. The only thing i can think now is the ecu.

I live in snodland in kent the car is at my work which is in bow, london. I haven't driven it for 8 months now as i needed to do some work on it ready for its MOT and i use the work van most of the time but that's set to change so just want to get it running right again.

yesterday i started it and let it ran for a while and after about 15mins the light came on. Most of the time the light was coming on when at slow speeds in stop start traffic but on the motorway at a constant speed it doesn't?

I'd suggest trying a known good ECU before anything else.
