FITV Delete

To delete the FITV is it as simple as?:
Use alloy plate to blank it off
Use sealer when placing the blanking plate
Does the exit of the thermo housing go straight to the intake of the IACV? bypassing the FITV that way? Basically connect 1-1 and 2-2 in the pic?
Off the top of my head am I right that there is no electrical connector for the FITV?
Once bypassed I should raise the idle a little to compensate?
Any suggestions would be helpfull

Yeah that all looks right. Reset the ECU afterwards, and give it 5 minutes running from cold. Then try a few stone cold early morning starts before you adjust anything - it might not need it.
PS. For a cheap and easy way to block it off you could also just buy a piece of gasket material and sandwich that between the FITV and the TB, only making holes for the bolts.

Nice! Yeah I was going for the ghetto sandwich gasket

leave the idle set as is. if you try and raise it to compensate for the lack of a FITV then you run the risk of a rolling idle once the car is up to temp. Like judderod said let the car idle for 5 mins before you drive that way it will not be trying to stall (in winter anyway)

Cool that seems the logical way of setting the correct idle. PAW suggested running a slighly higher than normal idle for track/race situations as this will increase the rate of oil circulation when the car is sitting still and cooling down (obviously whilst the engine is still on).

@Merlin did this work for you in the end? im looking at blanking mine until the new engine goes in as I have another suspected FITV failure

I didn't do it as I got the new engine instead but the theory is sound

You will just have a crappy cold start
PerformanceAutoworks wrote:I meant to say this last night but if this is for your track car personally I would remove the FITV altogether anyway. Remove it and blank the underside of the throttle body with an alloy plate (use sealant where the o rings would normally sit). Only slight downside can be a low idle when very cold but some throttle body setup can compensate this to certain degree. For track cars I prefer to run the idle a little higher than stock as it helps keep the idle oil pressure up a bit when coming of track with a stonking hot engine.
