Bad misfire under load

Post by hoppi05 » Tue Jun 09, 2015 9:37 pm

ok guys not put this in the build thread as yet but would appreciate your thoughts as i have an auto guys coming out tomorrow.

so we got the H2B running in the car and when we took it for a drive and put it under load we had misfires like it was WW2 all over again???

now the ignition timing will be out as we removed the dissy and we are not sure if the previous owner had not removed it also, as we do not have a timing gun i have a auto tune guy coming over tomorrow AM to set the ignition timing and check the codes etc.

some may know this already but we did the coolant bypass and on the FITV and we had to replace the IACV as the one we fitted original had the car constantly hunting when idling. before we resolved that issue i think we totally screwed the idle up as we twisted the screw back and forth trying to resolve the hunting. we have the EGR delete also and a resistor box in place to do the swap for the power feed to the injectors. we have fuel pressure set to around 3 kg/cm i believe this may be incorrect? the manual suggest to be in the range of 2.55-3.05 without a vacuum hose connected and with the hose connected 1.95 - 2.45 which now typing this mean i have it set too high i think? can anyone confirm this please?

ANYWAY

we are hoping it is the ignition timing that is way out so fingers crossed if anyone has any other areas i should get checked please let me know....

as i say under load we get the loud bangs pops etc the car pulls through the rev range but it is not smooth with power coming in and out????

thanks all i know this is shirt notice and i do have another issue with the steering or lack of it but thats one to sort after this

Hi,
Your ivac or egr won't have anything to do with it. Also your injectors won't cause a misfire.
Like wurly said, check your leads first. Then sparkplugs.
If you have not removed your whole ignition but only the dizzy it should be ok.

You fuel pressure is correct, 3kg/cm is about 42 psi.
Don't drive it again. Sort it out first . Sure its something simple!

cheers guys yes everything was removed as this is in a delsol, so new leads which are Nology Hotwire's, new spark plugs, new dizzy cap (clear one) dizzy was completely removed, ignition system other than the engine is the original delsol system that had no issues before the swap.

well he is coming around 10:30 so we shall see.

You have a P13 ECU yeah? Make sure he knows to short the service connector before setting the timing, or he will be wasting his time. http://www.ludegeneration.co.uk/honda-p ... 11854.html

The correct dizzy wiring, just in case:

Edit - no longer upside down

Also note that the diagram in the manual shows the dizzy upside down.
