problem that @preludePL is having with his 5g.

when he starts the engine up, runs fine from cold and heats up ok and lets the fans kicks in, but as soon as you put your foot on the accelerator - once the revs come back down the engine cuts out.

- he has pressure on all cylinders
- spark plugs are ok
- new injectors
- new dizzy
- adjusted valve clearances
- timing done between fly and dizzy
- swapped ecu's
- no engine check light appears

only other point is that he has no balance belt fitted.
also the engine has just been rebuilt with new piston rings, skimmed head, and new headgasket

Assuming all the cooling system has been properly bled, it sounds like the idle isn't set correctly.

he says the thermostat was fine so left the old one in. the car idles ok at 800rpm the whole time he was doing the coolant bleed to remove airlocks, only once the accelerator is pressed and released is when the idle goes "crazy" he says and then cuts out.
faulty FITV maybe?

Sounds like it could be TPS related to me.

There is a way of testing the TPS in the service manual. You can measure its output voltage to see if it is working properly.

On my 4th gen (it is running Hondata S300) when the TPS settings were out hot idle was erratic.

In way way does it go crazy?

If the FITV was faulty all it would do is allow more air to get into the intake manifold which may raise idle and perhaps cause idle to bounce.

I told him to check the FITV and IACV and during investigation just now he has discovered that the EGR canals were blocked, and so unblocking the crap out of them has cured the problem :) thanks everyone!
