firstly.....what a huge frikkin PITA!!!!!!!

secondly, anyone else removed this? I need to remove mine as I suspect the gasket is leaking. ive tested and swapped both the FITV and IACV, checked the coolant is bled and topped up, swapped the TB but I can still hear a big vacuum leak.

I have 9/10 inlet bolts off but the bottom left bolt on the cam belt side is a how-the-feck do you get it off. my only last chance is to take off the fuel filter for a little more room tonight underneath so cross fingers.

I have tried from the top down, removing the loom and power steering pipe aside but cant get any angle to use a tool to remove the nut. this is the fecking huge PITA to just do this as there are two brackets down there that hold these in place.... and yes I was that angry once they were out I smashed them to bits with a hammer

if there are any better suggestions please fire away.

Just wait till you try to refit it. I'm pretty sure you can get a small spanner down there? Or do you have 1/4 drive wratchets?

Also before you remove the inlet, make sure that you have unbolted the loom and brackets from its underneath, otherwise when you go to pull it off, it'll pull the wiring and take the knock sensor out with it.

urgh im not looking forward to the refit either I can't get the angle to get a spanner or socket or even a 1/4 ratchet.

yeh I remember the loom is attached - bloody over engineering lol

Could you use a universal joint and an extension? I had to undo a particularly horrible bolt on my Isuzu yesterday (the bolt was located behind the A/C compressor and out of sight, and there was so little clearance with the ratchet in situ you could only get 1 click at a time… Stuck a UJ into the mix along with my big extension for good measure and it was a piece of piddle to undo.

Yes Pete.....exactly. I got mine off however that last boot on the cambekt side is the hardest. On the type s atts is in the way.

If you lean over your drivers side with very long straight extension bar you should be able to get it. Get someone else to line the bar up with the bolt for help.

hmm good idea - if the removal of the oil filter fails then that's the next step, get a mate involved to help do that!

stop mincing around and take the bloody engine out and it becomes a relaxed job instead you have wasted the same amount of time scuffed all your knuckles broke stuff lost tools that you have thrown around and upset your neighbours/kids/animals by shouting and swearing
