hello everybody peeps!!
been putting up with a slight hesitation from the engine, usually when first starting the car either in the morning or when going home from work.
when you put the accelerator down -feels like something holding the car back for a second or so then runs normal (happening in all gears)
new plugs in, new air filter, cleaned egr valve, checked and topped up coolant

what else should i be looking for?
as i say ,been living with it but its starting to get right on my tits
cheers
stuart

My problem was solved today, it was throttle body gasket
I had 2-3k hesitiation, light throttle
worth looking for air leaks

Can also be contacts in the dizzy cap, but it's a case of trying a few things and see what cures it. No one fix fortunately

I had a similar problem on mine. It would hesitate on warm up, turned out to be a hole in the downpipe. I have heard of the engine coolant temp sensor causing the same symptoms though.

I had the same type of hesitation but when VTEC kicked in. A bottle of injector cleaner seeme to have solved it or it coincidentally sorted itself.

I've noticed this too! Is it a coincidence we all have 5th's?

I still get this very very slightly. Changed Plugs, Leads, Cap, Rotor, Coil, Ignition Module, 02 Sensor, TPS, Fuel filter, injectors cleaned and flow tested, Valve clearances done and everything cleaned out including entire TB and all attached parts, egr valve, drilled out egr plugs and cleaned egr passages out. whole vacuum system stripped, cleaned reassembled and leak checked with ultrasonic vacuum leak sniffer. Compression tests done. Basically everything. It still does it but only occasionally and only every when it is above about 12-15 degrees outside. It never does it in the cold.
It is so slight and so occasional now I can live with it. The biggest difference of anything I did was changing the TPS. Try unplugging it and driving it to see if it stops.
Beyond that the next things left for me to try are disintegrating Cat or knock sensor. Knock sensor I am going to get in the US when I go in a few weeks. Cat I am putting off as there are no bolts left to undo. They have become one with the exhaust!!
As said above there is no one answer for this, everyone seems to have different fixes for it. Start with free/cheap things and work your way through.
Fuel really makes a difference as well. Esso/Shell are fine. Supermarket is not. It does it more on that, which sort of leads me towards knock sensor.

The H22a8 was the only UK H22 to have one. Your H22a5 doesnt.
