Vtec cuts out or glitch during vtec

Took the car out earlier for a quick hoon.
Vtecin the jobby out of it, when in 3rd and 4th geear at around 6k the engine note changed for a split second to out of vtec and the power cuts slightly.
It does it literally for a split second a few times but always returns instantly and carries on up the rev range. Doesn't do it all the time. Only noticed it earlier.
Feels almost like a traction control system but very mild.
Only does it in high gears.
But man do I smoke in vtec.

Was going to say, have you checked your engine oil level?
I've had low oil before in my chavic but the first time my lude dropped out of vtec due to low oil (and therefore drop in oil pressure) it was like someone had slammed the brakes on...honestly thought I'd drokked something really bad

Check oil level and vtec solenoid gasket. Also how does temp sit. If your thermostat isn't keeping to temp vtec will cut out.

Oil was checked 1st and its fine, engine temp is fine, excellent oil pressure and temperature. Air fuel rations in the 11.5-12.5:1 in high vtec.
I'll check the solenoid next.

I had some issues with mine awhile ago,oil sat between the 2 dots and my vss was getting a bit dodgy so thats been replaced and the oil was topped up to full and hassle free Vtec-ing now since.
Was most common for me lower gears with higher revs and cornering which would explain the oil but you would think that half up the the dots on the stick would suffice.
Anyone share more on Vtec not engaging unless full throttle?
Was searching this when i had issues and found some S2k owners kept coming up with similar Q's ..
I think my Lude has it's own intentions sometimes
As newkid said too the solenoid gasket plays up,just read this

Actually thinking about it, it did do it whilst going round minor bends only on full chat. Oil is just below half way.
I'll top up to max.
This loss of vtec Does not cause the car to slow or jerk. More like a slight hesitation.
