H22a8 to H22a5 engine swap.

Hi guys. So I've a 5th gen with a poorly a8 engine which I bought off a guy that blew a hole in a piston!!!!! Question is what problems will I encounter swapping in an a5 I have from another car? Any help is much appreciated

H22A8 - 200ish BHP.
H22A5 - 185ish BHP.

You will either need to use an H22a5 ECU or retrofit a knock sensor to the H22a5 (if you use the H22a8 ECU), as the H22a8 has a knock sensor while the H22a5 does not.

That's no problem as I have a complete car to do transplant. Will that mean I need the keys from that car as well for the immobiliser or is that a separate unit? Thanks @Merlin

That is a good point. In that case the best way forward would be to use the H22a8 ECU and put a knock sensor on the H22a5.

So I just need to buy a knock sensor and screw it in?

There will be a knock sensor on your H22a8, use that

You can get new knock sensors on eBay for a decent price.
