3rd gen rev limit?

My 3rd gen b20a7 goes off the end of the rev counter to about 8.5k, which I find incredible for 26 year old car!
Is this normal? Or has it been "fiddled with?"

That must be reading incorrectly. B20's don't rev that high. Red line is around 6.5k and the ecu would not let it rev over that (limiter would cut in).
If it actually did ever rev that high, you would almost certainly have valves and pistons becoming closely acquainted...

Unless its an ex twin carb engine. No crank sensor means no rev limit. It will rev until you blow it.

A7 is PGM-FI only.

Well my gauge goes from 0 to 8k, the red part being between 6.5k and 8k, but it goes off the end.
It does then have a limiter that kicks in at about 8.3k.
So I've either got the wrong clocks on the car, or someone's done something to the ecu?

Over-reading Rev counter
Certainly doesn't sound anything like 8k revs+ (An Integra R revs to 8400rpm as standard for comparison)
