ok so ive got a h22a closed deck block which was running a Yonaka H22a DOHC VTEC OEM-spec Head Gasket, which i also used on my open deck block.

it blew, granted i used it a few times and thats most likely why but,
i just wanted to make sure this head gasket is ok to be used on open and closed deck blocks before i buy another.

thanks in advance.

 Am I reading this right... You re-used a head gasket?

Yep, never re-use a head gasket. They're a single-use item I'm afraid.

The open and closed deck engines use different head gaskets.

You need to get one for a 4th gen 92-96. All 4th gen H22's are closed deck. Like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AJUSA-1009330 ... SwiLdWA9pZ or this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Head-Gasket-1 ... SwyQtVoRPs

It could be that they are using the same pic for both. Open deck has a larger more encompassing water jacket so there will be more holes around the cylinder holes on the gasket.

but surely the holes corresopond to the holes in the head having extra ones that go no where would be pointless?
