cams dont line up! HELP

Hi guys,

I had some issues with my timing belt end of last year. tightened the belt and positioned the camgears as good as possible.

On the Dyno my tuner said someting was off as it was running way to rich and he couldn't do anything about it.

Now I have installed Skunk Pro adjustable cam gears when I checked what was going on.(as I want to tune them at a later stage anyway. But I can not find the problem.

The teeth of the belt just don't allow my gears to be set properly.
Whats wrong?

The engine is 100% set at cylinder 1 at TDC , no matter what I try. I can not get both camgears pointing straight up..

Wrong Belt? but the teeth match the gear..
Having flattened the block or head shoudn't affect the belt fitting the gears.

Any thoughts?

Have you/did you lock the cams when you fitted the belt?

Looks like they are a tooth out tbh

You'd never line those marks up. One at top of a tooth other at bottom. To get them in-line surely it be half a tooth out. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

did you tension the belt before you set the timing ? looks like the intake cam is a tooth out

We had this problem with Wills lude due to the manual tensioner being fitted making things really tight but as Phil says it's a tooth out of afraid - it's simply persistence to get it correctly lined up

Yes, like I said it had the same problem.

No you don't need to
And its not a tooth but half.. That's the problem. If it was a whole tooth it's simple.

he means one line is above a teeth and the other below. lining up is possible as the distance between the gears determine the difference.

What?!? You set the camgears so the belt is tight on the long straigt and the top, the tensioner doesn't change the timing.

I will try it a few more times and do research what cam and what way it hurts the least ( or even bennefit).

I can always adjust them using the gears but try not to.

Thanks for the effort guys!

I'm sure you have tried it but from the picture it looks like the intake cam wants to turn to the right a tooth, I suppose that might take it to half a tooth out the other way then..

Hmmmm strange
