I'm in Halford at the min and have me a conundrum lol

Mobil super 3000 5-30 fully synthetic formula FE for 23.99

Or

Mobil super 2000 10-40 semi synthetic for 22.39

Need oil today as I'm doing a change or I'd wait for opie... car has 131k on the clock so that's why I'm leaning towards the 10-40.. anyone any advice?
Read a few threads but just looking members opinions

Thank god! There seems to be a common link between 5w-30 oil and oil pump failure! :-|

To the best of my knowledge that's the recommended oil isn't it?
Why would they be linked?

Just got told 10-40 as it's slightly thicker for a higher miles engine

Really? :o
I was always told 5-30 haha

Although one was a motor factor temp who went off his dc2, the other was a wannabe mechanic with.... A dc2 lol
Even on Halford site it said 5-30 though

10w40 is recommended for H series engine and you can use it in the gearbox as well ;)

I've heard of people using 5w30 in B series and the cams picking up in the head and ruining the lump.. :?
