Anyone got an m2b4 laid about they could take some pics off, engine management light came on and speedo cut out on the 1/4 mile today and upon checking looks like the holding bolt bracket and part of the gearbox casing has sheered clean off.

Be looking for pics of the vss location from some different angles.

Cheers

i dont think the m2b4 is any different casing/fixing wise to other manual 4th/5th gen boxes
we could maybe find somewhere with a ramp or you can use the pit at my folks and compare against my M2B4 but of course its bolted in place so will be difficult to see maybe :?

unlucky if its sheared and id be checking the rest of the bolts asap - at least you got your excuses in early on the 1/4r mile - i have no excuses im just plain bum droppings off the line - car went well tho :)

What do you need a pic of mate? I can take a pic of my m2b4, my/draxs f5 box and a u2q7 for good measure if you need?

We're the vss bolts to bud. Sure its right above/next to were a gearbox bolt goes to the block so an above and side on view if poss.

Mine seemed quite flimsy too when i was swapping the vss over, the whole unit came out quite easily and had me wondering how it stays put in there!

That was months back and its still good but even on refitting i was concerned by it's ease to lift out of the gearbox casing, just needs it flexibility i guess.

@greg-sir part marked in yellow bolts down to the box, stops vss from popping out

The part marked in red is were mine has sheered clean off, you can see the bottom half of the threads, looks like new box needed unless there's another way to sort it

Is that not where the rear engine mount /gearbox strengthening bracket bolts to?

Honestly don't know. Never removed just a box.
