What's the best box to fit the mfactory bits into. Bare in mind that my cars a daily and not track.
Cheers

M2f5... for a close 5th ratio
Or m2a4 for a longer 5th, better motorway cruising rpm (lower)
Ratios 1st-4th are identical between two boxes

This I would 100% agree with. Failing on getting hold of the M2F5 (UK 4th gen), the M2V5 (UK 97-98 5th gen) will work as well.
Edit - The M2V5 has longer 1st and 3rd gears so the M2F5 is better.

Anyone know off hand what rpm I'd be at at 70? On the 2 boxes Dino mentioned? I'm presuming the m2a4 will be better for motorway cruising?

M2F5 + 4.64 FD @ 70mph is ~4500 RPM. MA24 will be slightly lower.

M2P4 with the 4.64fd at 70mph is at 4200rpm.

Ok tried the mfactory calculator
m2f5 + 4.062fd @ 71mph is 3400rpm
m2f5 + 4.64fd @ 71mph is 3900rpm
m2a4 + 4.266fd @ 70mph is 3200rpm
m2a4 + 4.64fd @ 71mph is 3500rpm
this is based on 205/50/16
This sound about right?
Looks like m2f5 is the one then, doesn't look like a huge difference tho.

What happened to your S-SPEC gearbox that you thought was non-LSD?

Thought I'd give it a try
Gave up when it went onto special tools about lash etc on bearings.
