I would think you choose the gasket that matches the block, is the a2 open or closed deck?

With the a7 being open deck, I'd assume that HG is not suitable.

The gasket you should use must be the one who goes with the block.

Open deck use the "MLS" head gasket, which need the as clean as possible surface to be used... but are a little bit stronger than the old style gasket.

Closed deck use the "graphite" head gasket, which is a little bit more tolerant with the surface quality.

So, with a H22A2, you have to use the graphite head gasket because the MLS gasket is designed to be used with an open deck block.
If you have oïl leaks with a graphite gasket, with a MLS style it will be worse

Thanks for the input! I found the problem, i compared the old H22a2 to the old h22a7 and both should do the job. But at 3 in the morning when i put on my head, i didnt compare the new one. They send me an h23 headgasket...

I was once sold an a7 gasket in error, offering it to my closed deck block showed it was not going to work.

My closed deck gasket is MLS.
